    Bel-Air Manor is a 2014 recipient of the Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award for its dedication to improving the lives of residents through improved quality care. The award is presented by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) through the National Quality Award Program. The program honors facilities that have demonstrated their commitment to improving quality care for seniors and individuals with disabilities.

  • Bel-Air Manor Open House A Great Success!

  • Friends old and new enjoyed meeting author Lynn McPhelimy. McPhelimy wrote “In The Checklist of Life” when both parents were diagnosed with terminal cancer and she needed a how-to guide for everything from their home’s septic system to special meds for their dog. The result was her best-selling book, a great resource for all with aging parents. Guests enjoyed martinis, food from Hot Tomatoes, and a chance to re-connect with friends.   • What Is Quality? Third in Our Photo Series

  • Mrs. Carrier, the Dietary Manager at Bel-Air Manor, looks on as resident Mrs. Passan tries the homemade soup. When Amber started at Bel-Air Manor, she introduced many new menu items, from comfort food to heart-healthy entrees. Residents got to taste-test the entrees and give thumbs’s up or thumb’s down. Mealtimes are one of the most important times of day for residents, so providing tasty, healthful meals in a pleasant, social setting, is a top priority at all Ryders nursing facilities.

    Resident Councils ensure that residents have a voice in decisions that impact their quality of life. Quality means listening to residents, giving them autonomy and choices as often as possible regarding diet, leisure activities, and other aspects of their care.

    The second picture was taken during Pranzo Bella, a special event where the Bel-Air Manor staff served the residents a special meal from gourmet appetizers to dessert, accompanied by music. Staff enjoyed the event as much as the residents! Staff members consistently go above and beyond and give from the heart to ensure that residents are comfortable, participate in interesting activities, and that all needs — physical, emotional or spiritual – are met.

    Exceptional caring leads to exceptional quality of life for all residents at all Ryders nursing facilities.

    Mr. Richard Bates, BS, NHA, Administrator of Lord Chamberlain Manor, was recently honored by the ACHCA (American College of Health Care Administrators) with its coveted Leadership Award. This award is presented to administrators who exemplify leadership qualities that set their facilities apart as highest quality based on a number of quality measures.

    Shaun Savoie, BS, NHA, administrator of Aaron Manor, a sister Ryders facility in Chester, CT, has also received this award.

    Congratulations, Mr. Bates and Mr. Savoie, and thank you to all of our administrators for all you do to make your residents’ lives just that much better!

Recently, Mrs. Miller and Ms. Burnhauser were honored with Nightingale Awards.

    The Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing celebrates outstanding nurses. Nominees “should have made a significant impact on patient care and/or the nursing profession; gone ‘beyond the call’ in a clearly illustrated way, demonstrated excellence or achieved a life-long legacy in a particular arena.”
